Room by Room

Your bathroom should feel safe.

The bathroom is where most falls happen at home. A properly designed accessible bathroom changes that — and we can help you get there with a free in-home evaluation.

The Collins Difference

A safer bathroom starts with the right conversation.

We measure before we recommend.

Every bathroom is different. We never quote a solution before seeing your space. Our free in-home evaluation means the recommendation you get is the right one for your home, your mobility, and your goals.

Licensed installation, start to finish.

Our Connecticut-licensed installation team handles everything from design to completion. You will not be handed off to a subcontractor you have never met. The same team that quotes the job completes it.

No pressure. No upsell. Just the right fit.

We will tell you when a full conversion is the right answer and when it is not. Sometimes grab bars and a shower chair are all you need. We would rather earn your trust than sell you something you do not need.

We help navigate funding options.

Accessible bathroom modifications may qualify for funding through CT Medicaid programs or waiver programs depending on your situation. We review your options at no charge during your evaluation so you understand what may be available.

Local team. Long-term support.

We are based in Bridgeport and have been part of Connecticut communities since 1931. When you call us after your installation, a real person answers. We are your neighbors, not a national call center.

Written quote. No surprises.

After your evaluation, we provide a written quote with custom measurements and a clear scope of work. You know exactly what will happen, when it will happen, and what it will cost before any work begins.

For Families & Caregivers

The bathroom is where most falls happen. We can change that.

We understand how much weight this decision carries. When someone you love is struggling to get in and out of the tub safely, it is not just a home improvement question — it is a question about independence, dignity, and peace of mind for your whole family. Our team approaches every evaluation with patience and care. We listen first. We never rush. And we make sure the solution we recommend is one you feel genuinely confident about. You do not have to figure this out alone — that is exactly what we are here for.

Various CT waiver programs may provide funding for home accessibility modifications. Eligibility depends on your program enrollment. We coordinate directly with your case manager to explore what may apply.

When a Full Conversion Is More Than You Need

Not every bathroom situation calls for a full remodel. Sometimes a set of professionally installed grab bars, a handheld showerhead, and a shower chair are exactly the right answer — faster, simpler, and just as effective for your safety. We will always tell you the truth about what your situation actually needs.

If grab bars, a handheld showerhead, or a shower chair are the right answer for your situation, we will tell you that — and we can help with those too. Our goal is your safety and confidence at home, not a larger project scope.

Common Questions

Questions we hear every day — answered honestly.

How do I know which option is right for my bathroom?
Every bathroom is different — the right solution depends on your layout, your mobility needs, and your goals. That is exactly what our free in-home evaluation is for. Our specialist will assess your space, listen to your concerns, and recommend the option that makes the most sense for you. There is no pressure and no obligation.
How long does installation take?
Most accessible shower conversions and walk-in tub installations are completed in one to two days by our licensed Connecticut installation team. A tub cut-out can often be completed the same day. We will give you a clear timeline before any work begins — no surprises.
Will this work in my existing bathroom?
In most cases, yes. Our team works with existing bathroom footprints and custom-measures every installation. During your free evaluation, we will confirm exactly what is possible in your space and walk you through the options that fit.
Is funding available to help cover the cost?
Funding availability depends on your individual situation and program enrollment. Some CT Medicaid and waiver programs may cover accessible bathroom modifications. We review your options at no charge during your free evaluation and help you navigate whatever pathways may apply to your situation.
What is the difference between a walk-in shower and a roll-in shower?
A walk-in shower conversion creates a low or zero-threshold entry that is easy to step into safely. A roll-in shower is specifically designed for full wheelchair access — with a completely flat floor and enough space to roll in directly. Our specialist will help you determine which design fits your needs during your evaluation.
What is a tub cut-out and is it permanent?
A tub cut-out lowers the entry point of your existing bathtub so you can step in and out more easily. It is a permanent modification sealed with a waterproof insert. It is the most affordable option for people who want to keep their existing tub but need a safer entry point.
Do you handle everything, or do I need to hire a plumber separately?
We coordinate the full installation. Our licensed Connecticut team handles the work from start to finish. If your project requires additional plumbing coordination, we will let you know upfront during the design and quote phase — no hidden steps.
What happens after installation — is there any follow-up support?
Yes. We are a local team and we stand behind every installation we complete. If you have questions after your bathroom is done, you can call us directly at (203) 576-8642. We are not a call center — we are your Connecticut neighbors, and we are here for the long term.
